Dog Beach Safety Tips

Choose a Dog-Friendly Beach

Not all beaches allow dogs, so be sure to check before you go.

Keep Your Dog on a Leash

Even if the beach allows dogs off-leash, it's always best to keep your dog on a leash for their safety and the safety of others.

Apply Sunscreen to Your Dog

Dogs can get sunburned just like people, so be sure to apply sunscreen to their ears, nose, and any other areas with exposed skin.

Provide Shade

Bring an umbrella or sunshade to keep your dog cool and out of the sun.

Limit Your Dog's Water Intake

Salt water can dehydrate dogs, so don't let them drink too much of it. Offer them fresh water instead.

Watch Out for Dangerous Animals

Be on the lookout for jellyfish, stingrays, and other dangerous animals that could be at the beach.

Clean Your Dog After the Beach

Rinse your dog off with fresh water after they've been at the beach to remove any sand, salt, or other debris.
