When to perform CPR

If your cat or kitten is unconscious and not breathing

Steps for performing CPR

1. Clear the airway, 2. Give chest compressions, 3. Give rescue breaths

Clearing the airway

Gently tilt your cat or kitten's head back and lift their chin.

Giving chest compressions

Place your hands on your cat or kitten's chest, one on top of the other.

Giving rescue breaths

Seal your mouth over your cat or kitten's nose and blow gently.

Chest compressions 

Continue chest compressions and rescue breaths at a ratio of 30:2.

When to stop CPR

If your cat or kitten starts breathing on their own, or if you are unable to continue CPR for more than 2 minutes.
