Comfort a scared cat

Respect their space

Don't force your cat to interact with you if they're scared. Let them come to you when they're ready.

Create a safe space

Provide your cat with a quiet, secluded place where they can feel safe. This could be a cat bed under a bed or in a closet.

Use calming scents

You can use calming scents, such as lavender or chamomile, to help your cat feel more relaxed.

Talk to them softly

Use a soft, soothing voice when talking to your cat. Avoid making loud noises or sudden movements.

Offer them treats

Offering your cat treats can help them associate you with positive experiences. This can make them feel more comfortable around you.

Be patient

It may take some time for your cat to feel comfortable again. Be patient and understanding, and they will eventually come around.

Consult a veterinarian

If your cat is severely scared or anxious, you may want to consult with a veterinarian.
